How to tackle dry and itchy eyes

Spring has past and summer is here and has left plenty of pollen behind for us to enjoy. And, summer is around the corner. Both of these weather conditions make your dry eye symptoms worse. So, what is dry eye? Dry eye has many causes including poor tear production, faster evaporation of tears, and immune related issues. Symptoms include watering, burning, grittiness, blurriness. And, dry eye can affect your ability to comfortably wear contact lenses.
We can help you tackle your dry eye problems
At St Clair Eye, we can help you tackle your dry eye problems with medical management, and over the counter solutions. Medical management for dry eye includes prescription dry eye drops or prescription nasal sprays to improve tear production, and prescription anti-inflammatory drops for allergies. Dr. Patel recommends preservative free dry eye drops to reduce irritation on the surface of your eyes.
There are important things to consider
For some patients, only one solution is needed. For others, multiple solutions are needed to provide relief. There are other important things to consider such as your health conditions, current medications, working conditions, pets, and more. Dr. Patel has been practicing optometry for 25 years and herself experiences dry eye so she and her team can recommend the write treatment plan for your specific dry eye symptoms.
